An Erudite is an Ethereal being in the Clouded Horizons series, one of the two races which inhabit the Ethereal Plane.

History

Erudite have existed on the Ethereal Plane since the plane's creation, the more-powerful and less-numerous counterpart to Malakh when the plane was created by Erasmus. Because of their power, they viewed their fellow race as an inferior species, and were not afraid of showing their distaste. There was much dissension from the Erudite race as a whole when the Order of Grim Angels was created as a subset of the prestigious Gilead Order, an order which until that point had been open only to Erudite beings.

Years later, the plane would descend into open war as a result of unfortunate events, placing many Erudite into conflict with the Malakh population. Eventually, a section of Erudites crafted a spell designed to turn Malakh into Daiesthai, a spell which became responsible for the near-extinction of the more-numerous race by war's end. Now, Erudite are the more numerous of the two races in the plane, with only a handful of Malakh still alive at the present time.
