An Arrancar is a Daiesthai who has learned to mix both their demonic and angelic power, manifesting the combination as a type of Diviner that they wield in combat.

History

It is unknown exactly when the first Arrancar came about within the Nether Plane, a fact which leaves early history of the Arrancar and their development limited. However, several centuries ago, Aizen Sosuke took note of the peculiar evolutions in reiryoku and reiatsu that the new "breed" of Daiesthai were developing, and began to cultivate this evolution. Soon, Aizen created a group of warriors that he named the Espada, comprised of the ten most powerful such Arrancar within the Nether Plane. To this day, despite Aizen's dethronement and death, the Espada live on as the epitome of power that Daiesthai strive to achieve, serving as a seat of power upon which most demons desire to sit.

Abilities

Arrancar have several abilities that normal Daiesthai do not possess, some of which resemble techniques that were developed by the Order of Grim Angels within the Ethereal Plane. All Arrancar have a sword or other weapon, similar to a Diviner, into which part of their essence as a Daiesthai was sealed.

• Sonido: A rapid movement skill, similar to the angelic Shunpo, Sonido allows the Arrancar to manipulate their energy in order to propel themselves at high speed. Depending on the level of skill, an Arrancar using this can become incredibly fast but still visible, or can move fast enough to be unseen by the eye.

• Resurreccion: The Arrancar version of a Diviner's Shikai and Bankai forms, Resurreccion allows the Arrancar that uses it to access the full extent of their power once again, effectively giving them back the abilities they originally had as a Daiesthai. Depending on the level of power that the Arrancar possesses, this can vary anywhere between the average level of power of a Shikai form, to above the power of a Bankai.

• Gran Rey Cero: A more powerful version of the standard Cero that Daiesthai can use, the Gran Rey Cero is exclusively used by those Arrancar within the ranks of the Espada. It is formed by mixing the Espada's own blood with a normal Cero blast, and increases its destructive power by at least a factor of two, often much higher.
