Category:Vizard
A Vizard is a Malakh in the Clouded Horizons series that has tapped into their inner demonic power and subjugated it, rendering them able to call upon that power in battle to aid them.
History
During the times of the Great Ethereal War, those in opposition to the old ways of leadership under Freya developed a spell called Animus Occatio, designed specifically to target Malakh - the most numerous of the opposing forces. The reasoning was that by turning them into Daiesthai, not only would they create confusion and chaos in enemy forces, but they would also more greatly reduce the numbers of the enemy as the newly-turned Malakh would attack their former comrades.
Instead of turning them into Daiesthai as was intended, however, the spell often had more adverse effects. In most cases, the spell was either fatal or had the effect of turning the targeted Malakh into a hideous creature, neither angelic nor demonic. However, for a select few particularly strong Malakh, the spell had a different, unintentional effect - it began the development of demonic powers alongside the Malakh's own angelic-born abilities. These were the first Vizard, and also the last. Because of their new "heritage," ally and enemy alike turned on them, eventually killing all of the newly-born Vizard. All of those born during the Ethereal War are now Quincy who reside in Soul Society.
Many decades later, when the Order of Grim Angels reestablished itself within the walls of Soul Society, these deceased Malakh were approached and offered a place within the Order, but they declined. Seeing this, a woman named Cierra Olivier offered them a choice - they could have a place to stay within the Order's walls, free from the shunning and disrespect they still saw from the greater whole of Soul Society, in exchange for their services. They accepted, and were inducted into the Order under the collective group name of Project G.U.
Abilities
The Vizard have abilities of both Malakh and Daiesthai, though their side of demonic power manifests with slight differences than Daiesthai themselves. Their power can manifest in two levels: either a mask worn by the user, or a full transformation known as an Avatar.
A Vizard's masked state is considered an inferior manifestation of their power, but still contains great levels of power in its own right. By donning their mask, a Vizard can use most of their demonic power freely, though it has limitations - a Vizard can only keep their mask for a certain period of time, dependent on the user. In this form, they can use basic demonic techniques such as Cero, as well as techniques that may be specific to their demonic side.
A Vizard's Avatar, however, is the complete manifestation of their demonic side, essentially a fusion of the demon and the user. Similar to an Arrancar's Resurreccion, the Avatar state usually transforms the user completely into their inner demon, allowing them to use the full extent of their power at the risk of a greater chance of corruption. Like the mask, a user can only maintain their Avatar state for a limited amount of time, usually much shorter than the former.
