Clouded Horizons:Valkyrie
Valkyrie is a custom Extended Class in the Eighth Realm that specializes in close-range combat with heavy blades or polearms.
History
Valkyrie is a term coined to denote the fiercest fighters of the Ethereal Plane, similar to knights or samurai in ancient times. It is not so much a rank as a title; to be denoted a Valkyrie means that one has shown exceptional skill, even above and beyond others of their rank. Typically, Valkyries are those who have reached the upper ranks of the Ethereal Knights, below only the Grand Master in their skill and knowledge. There are only a handful of beings that have attained the title Valkyrie in the Ethereal Plane currently, and few more whom are deceased who have earned that level of prestige. Those who have witnessed a Valkyrie in battle speak of combat prowess both devastating and artful, each move as much poetry in motion as swift death.
Traditionally, Valkyries are skilled with most any martial weapon, though most Valkyries prefer powerful broadswords or knightswords as well as spears or other polearms, echewing blunt weapons and axes. Most also wear ceremonial armor into battle resembling plate, though much lighter and sturdier than mortal craft could create. They are excellent front to mid-range fighters, capable of felling dozens of enemies while healing their own wounds through prayers to the Creator.

Overview
Valkyrie is a class well-suited to going toe-to-toe with enemies, capable of wearing heavy plate armor and carrying powerful spears or greatswords to do battle with. It lends itself well to a defensive approach, like the Paladin class, as its Stances give benefits not only to itself, but in lesser amounts to allies as well. Along with high amounts of physical prowess, it has good versatility as well, with attack effects changing on whether a Heavy Blade or Polearm-class weapon is being used. While it is a powerful class, it lacks great amounts of Mana to utilize its skills, constraining it offensively to some degree, as well as lacking speed to get in quick strikes.
